About BreastMilk.comThe Birth of an Idea...As a first-time breastfeeding mom, I quickly became frustrated at having to wear nursing garments or button-down shirts in order to comfortably nurse my baby while I was at home on maternity leave. I wanted to wear my comfy pullover shirts while breastfeeding, but the shirt material would often fall down and cover up my breasts – and my baby’s face! This was especially frustrating when I was first learning to breastfeed. (When you're first learning to breastfeed, it's important to be able to see your breasts and your baby while breastfeeding to ensure proper latch-on and positioning. If you wear pullover shirts, you probably find yourself fumbling with your shirt material and having to pull the shirt material out of the way to see what's going on.) One morning, I was getting dressed and put on one of my favorite sweatshirts. As soon as I put it on, I realized that I couldn’t breastfeed my son while wearing the shirt – the sweatshirt material was too bulky and would fall down and cover his face. I thought, “What if I could make a strap that could hold up my shirt for me while I’m nursing?” I shared the idea with my husband, and he immediately saw the need and potential of this product. I invented peek-a-boo so that I could comfortably nurse my baby at home or in private while wearing the pullover shirts I already had in my closet and drawers. (It’s especially great to use while wearing bulky shirts, like sweatshirts and sweaters.) peek-a-boo was especially useful when I started back at work. When you're pumping at work, you need to be mindful of the clothing you wear -- you want to wear clothes with easy access. With peek-a-boo I could comfortably use my breast pump: my shirts stayed up and out of the way while I was using my pump and I could see what was going -- which is important. (If you've ever had your breast milk leak over while pumping because you couldn't see how full the bottles were, you know what I mean!) I kept one peek-a-boo at home and one in my breast pump case. If you’ve ever tried breastfeeding or using a breast pump while wearing a pullover shirt, you’ll appreciate what peek-a-boo can do. We have since expanded our product offering to include some of best breastfeeding products and supplies on the market. We carry essential breastfeeding products -- some of which are hard to find. I personally check out each and every product for quality (that's part of the fun!). You'll find the best breastfeeding products at some of the lowest prices at BreastMilk.com. "mompreneur," Sherry Bonelli, recently announced the debut of her new
Web site, which offers breastfeeding and baby products for busy moms. Breastmilk.com features products from breast pumps to
baby slings, all tested personally by Bonelli. A
veteran breastfeeding mom herself (she nursed her son for 14 months and is
currently breastfeeding her 4-month-old twin girls), Bonelli prides herself on
only selling products she has personally reviewed and/or tried herself. “If I
wouldn’t use it, I won’t sell it,” says Bonelli. “I don’t sell just
anything. I really try to find the best products on the market and make those
products available at affordable prices. We even offer free shipping.” Sherry
launched her first web site, www.MommysThinkin.com, in 1999 after the birth
of her first son. “Mommy’s Thinkin’ was started because of a breastfeeding
product I invented after I had my first son," says Bonelli. "I
invented the peek-a-boo breastfeeding strap and began to sell peek-a-boos from
my Web site. I soon realized that I needed to add additional products to my
store in order to grab people’s attention and have a better-rounded product
offering.” Products
she has recently added include the Whisper Wear Hands-Free Breast Pump and The
Ultimate Baby Wrap sling.
